Being proud of my Indigenous Heritage, this piece expresses the dreamtime legend of the Kombumerri people (local Tribe) about Jabreen (who is one of the first people from the animals forms) had been hunting and feasting on kuppai (honey) in the bushland of ‘Little Tallebudgera’. Tired from the day, Jabreen emerged from the bush and headed toward the ocean for a swim. After swimming in the ocean and returning back to land, Jabreen became tired and fell asleep, with the land rising around him to form the headland of Burleigh (Jellurgal) which is the hill depicted in this picture of Tallebudgera creek. Jabreen’s fingers can be seen as rocky formations at the base of Burleigh Headland.
